Summer Science Explorers Programs at the

SciencePort Science Center

WOODBRIDGE — Become a magician, scientist or backyard explorer. Uncover the secrets behind mind-boggling magic tricks. Create a bubbling concoction or slimy stuff. Discover what crawls, swims and flies through your garden. Explore the world of science at Summer Science Explorers at the SciencePort Science Center Thursday, July 8-Friday, July 30.

Take part in a down-and-dirty exploration of SciencePort with Senior Science Explorers Two-Day Field Study. Identify aquatic organisms. Test water quality. Join Science Museum biologist Dr. Eugene Maurakis and biology students from George Mason University as you discover what lies beneath the waters of the Potomac River. Senior Science Explorers Two-Day Field Study is for students in grades 6-8. It is Thursday, July 8-Friday, July 9, 9 a.m.-5p.m. Senior Science Explorers Two-Day Field Study is $182 for Science Center members and $192 for nonmembers. Tuition assistance is available.

 

Dabble in some Hocus Pocus Science. Learn the science secrets of magic and test your wizardry skills. Have a seat and listen to stories of scientific discoveries with Science Story. Investigate the hands-on science found in some great stories. Hocus Pocus Science and Science Story are Science Explorers sessions for students in grades K-5 on Monday, July 26-Friday, July 30, 9 a.m.-noon.

 

Join fellow Backyard Explorers as you journey into the world of creepy-crawlies. Make plaster castings of animal tracks. Watch reactions Fizz and Bubble when you mix different gooey substances. Strap on your goggles. Grab those test tubes. Backyard Explorers and Fizz and Bubble are Science Explorers sessions for students in grades K-5 on Monday, July 26-Friday, July 30, 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

Science Explorers sessions are $100 for members and $110 for nonmembers. 

 

Lunchtime supervision is not provided between sessions. Class sizes are limited.
