SciencePort Summer Science Explorers!

Summer 2006 Science Explorers Class Descriptions and Registration (PDF)

Grades K–5 • July 24–28

Fee: $110 ($100 for Science Museum/SciencePort Science Center members)

Adventures and exploration await you! Experienced educators guide explorers through a wide variety of educational, hands-on experiences designed to make science fun. Each session focuses on two cool science topics. Sign up for the morning session, afternoon session or both!

Lunchtime supervision is not provided between sessions. Class size is limited, so register early.

Morning Session • 9 a.m.–noon

 

"The Science of Candy"

How does sugar become candy? What makes marshmallows so light? Don't miss this sweet experience!

"Hard-hat Science"

Bring theory into reality as you learn about engineering principles and apply them to

building structures.

 

Afternoon Session • 1:30–4:30 p.m.

 

"Science by Accident"

Conduct experiments to find out how scientists and inventors discover new products.

"Is it Art or Is it Science?"

Explore the links between art and science as you create your own works of art.
